In my US History Class, I had to do an end-of-the-year project. What we had to do was create a question, tell what happened in history that solved it, and ten come up with our own scenario. It can be really creative. This is part of my project:
Question: What could the North and South have done to reach an agreement?
History's solution: They tried to negotiate, but they failed. They fought the Civil War instead.
My Solution: They would need to be on more friendly terms, and what better way to do that than a war? In 1850, during the debate that lead to the great compromise, Mexico would declare war on the US, trying to take back the territories that Mexico lost in the Mexican American War. They would make an alliance with Great Britain, who wanted more land. The US makes an Alliance with France, hoping to not make another enemy. France attacks Great Britain in Europe, so Britian pulls out of America. America then takes over all of Mexico. This is over the span of two years. After Mexico is taken over by the US, We send our navy to help France. In the End, France and the US win the North American War. US comes out with Mexico, and France has the southern part of Britain.
