The Uruk Chieftain is a special type of Uruk from which the player can hire Uruks, Snaga, or Wargs from Isengard.

Upon hiring a unit from an Uruk chieftain, the player earns the achievement "Pillaging Time".

Spawning[]

Uruk Chieftains can be found only in Uruk Camps in Nan Curunír and the Uruk Highlands. Each camp spawns one Chieftain along with normal Uruks occasionally.

Unlike most other Uruks, Chieftains do not spawn with helmets. They also do not use Uruk weapons, wielding a skull staff as their weapon of choice instead.

Behavior[]

Uruk Chieftains, like other chieftain or commander NPCs, will not attack any player or NPC, even if they are enemies of Isengard, unless provoked. If attacked, an Uruk Chieftain will defend itself with its skull staff, making them by far the weakest of all Uruks. While this is the case, they are often surrounded by other Uruks in their camp, making it hard to target a Chieftain without being ganged up on by his buddies.

If killed, the Chieftain will drop Uruk steel ingots, rotten flesh, maggoty bread, Orc bones, orc-draught (rare), and rarely a piece of armour or his skull staff in addition to a large floating coin showing were he will respawn. The only way to destroy it is to break it in creative mode.

Hiring[]

You must have an Isengard alignment of at least +150 to hire troops from him. You can hire various Isengard units from him if you have enough alignment and silver coins. If a player doesn't have enough alignment, the Chieftain will simply speak rudely to them and refuse to open their hiring menu.
