Some traders are not bound to a specific structure but wander freely through the world. In the mod, this means the NPC will spawn randomly in some place and despawn after some time.

Currently, there are eight different traveling traders: the Blue Mountains merchant, the Dalish merchant, the Dorwinion merchant, the Galadhrim wanderer, the Iron Hills merchant, the merchant of Harad, the oddment collector and the Rivendell wanderer.

The oddment collector doesn't belong to any one faction, and can be traded with regardless of alignment. Galadhrim wanderers require the player to have at least +75 Lothlórien alignment. All other traders will trade with the player as long as the player does not have a negative alignment with the trader's faction.

Spawning mechanics

Each biome has a list of traveling traders that can spawn there. Some biomes may be able to play host to all trader types, and some, such as the more wild or evil-themed biomes, will spawn none at all.

Traveling traders stay for twenty minutes of real-world time before moving on. When a traveling trader arrives, it will be announced with a chat message to all players in the world, and if on a server, which player it has arrived near. The trader will also give a warning message to all players one minute before it is due to leave. When a trader leaves, or if it should die, all players will be informed by a chat message.

Traders (with the exception of Harad merchants and oddment collectors) are always accompanied by some NPCs sometimes armoured from the same faction. They act as an escort. If the trader despawns or is killed, the escort will despawn as well. Escorts cannot give mini-quests.
