  • i use the just a few fish mod so i can spear fish, but sometimes the spear just gets stuck in the water and you can not pick it up, so this is how it might work, you put rope and a spear in a crafting table and you get a roped spear, if you have rope in you hotbar, then each rope in you hotbar is another block the rope will go before coming back to you, there are 2 ways to do this, by a distance form the player using the coordinates system, but that can get complex and the spear could look choppy, or you could use a tick rope system were every rope in you inventory is lets say 5 ticks, if the spear takes 5 ticks to fly 1 block, then 5 ticks will be worth 1 rope in you inventory and 15 rope world be 75 ticks or 15 blocks, the 5 ticks per rope is an example but it should be simple code, you have poison daggers so the nbt tags and enchentments should not bug out and the spear throwing code is very similar to a fishing rod code, it just has a range limit, i do know some java so i do know that this might work

    • I WOULD SAY realistically this is a no go for me. A good tweak is putting a dagger on the end of the rope, with the knot at the crossguard. Might not be the most damaging, but only does it look FREAKING AWESOME, it would be the only ranged weapon being able to return to its wielders hand. It would use leads instead of rope, but one needs to put both in a crafting table to create the lead-and-dagger item. The lead has, lets say, a five to ten percent chance to break, requiring you to run over to where you dropped it, and in the heat of battle, recraft your dagger again.

    • Hmmm....

i highly doubt a SPEAR and rope would make sense :(

A bow+arrow however... with a lead attached or something, like a grappling hook!!? :DD

i said spear because it is a new way to retrieve a spear, not a new weapon. the dagger on a rope is a real weapon, i dont remember what it is called but it is very hard to use but if you know what you are doing, you could kill peopel left and right, just only let the tip of the knife hit people and aim for the throat, also i think you should try to avoid using leads because you need a slime ball to make one and there are no slimes in middle earth, or wait until someone adds a new lead recipe.

    • There is an easy fix for the spear problem, don't throw it where you can't get it back. Seriously, there is no need to overcomplicate things. And I know spears sometimes bug in a way that they can't be picked up again, but instead of introducing a new feature with the potential of even more bugs the original problem should be fixed.

okay, so i cant throw it in water, i have standed right on top of the spear, i have even dug below the spear and had the spear hit me and i could not pick, i think it is a bug more then anything and it is so common that i thought people would have reported it, have you seen anyone talk about a bug were you can not pick up a spear in water?

    • I cannot pick up ANY throwing weapon, so I never use them.

    • A bit off-topic, but sometimes throwing weapons appear to be in different place than where they are, and you need to walk all around the area to actually find out where it really is. The real spot can be very far from the shown one, just pay attention to where it should have gone and did it possibly bounce off enemy, or what if it went through the enemy. But yes, I think it is a bug

    • okay, i will keep that in mind the next time i play, thanks
