Neither [Sam] nor Frodo knew anything of the great slave-worked fields away south in this wide realm, beyond the fumes of the Mountain by the dark sad waters of Lake Núrnen[.]

The Return of the King, The Land of Shadow

Slaves of Núrn are farming NPCs found throughout Núrn. They tend their wheat farms in small groups of three to five. They are easily recognizable by the hoe they hold in one hand. Although they are technically part of the Mordor faction, good NPC's won't attack them.

As of Public Beta 29 there are female slaves.

NurnSlavesFarm

A group of slaves on a Núrn farm.

EnslavingEdit

To enslave one of those poor people, it is no use to seek them out in their farms, as they are only sold by Orc slavers. Those ruthless creatures can only be found on their towers, where they sit idly and survey the slaves doing all the work. You need at least +200 Mordor alignment and 40 silver coins to buy a slave, otherwise, the slave trader will just laugh at you or utter an insult.

SlaveCommand1

Interacting with a slave.

After having bought one, your submissive "possession" follows you around (also through fast-travelling), calling you "Master" until you decide to interact with it by right-clicking. You can talk to it, but which ruler wants to talk to minions? You can also dismiss it, which would be a waste of money and effort. So, the best use for it, is to seek a suitable place to start a new farm. Rabbits will also not try to eat crops guarded by slaves.

FarmingEdit

SlavesOnFarm

Sereral slaves of Núrn are working on a farm.

They work similarly to other farmhands. They will help you sow and harvest crops if you give them the seeds. For more information, please check the farmhands page.

BehaviourEdit

One would not wish to talk to them, for they are very miserable. They always speak about the everlasting watchful eye and that sort of cheerful stuff. They are not the best at socializing!

Always keep in mind that you never can trust those slaves. You could never know if they might try and stab you from behind, when you've turned your back to them at night ... This is just a joke. Slave riots are not (yet) implemented in the mod. However, they have been known to attack evil aligned players if attacked, and others will join in the call. However, this appears to only be for the non-hirable units.

Slaves are able to be killed by Evil players, but not by Good players. If an evil player kills one of these slaves, their alignment will not be affected. Even hired slaves can be killed, but not by their master.

But the desertion of slaves is implemented in the mod, so should your Mordor alignment ever fall under +200, you will get this message: Your hired unit [name], the Slave of Núrn has deserted.
