- The Rangers of the North, a group of Dúnedain descendants of the Arnorians. They wear grey in lore, and the "Ranger" word in the name means the body of armed guards who patrol a region where is Eriador.
- The Rangers of Ithilien, an organization of Gondorians in Ithilien that harassed and hindered Sauron's movements in that area. They wear green and brown, and the "Ranger" word in the name means the soldier specially trained in the techniques of guerrilla warfare, especially in jungle terrain where is Ithilien.
