|“||They lie in all the pools, pale faces, deep deep under the dark water. I saw them: grim faces and evil, and noble faces and sad. Many faces proud and fair and weeds in their silver hair. But all foul, all rotting, all dead. A fell light is in them.||”|
–The Two Towers, The Passage of the Marshes
The Marsh Wraiths are creatures that will attack any mob (including the player) that find themselves in the waters of the Dead Marshes. They represent the spirits of Men, Elves, and Orcs who died in a great battle fought here long ago.
Marsh wraiths are present both day and night in the Dead Marshes. As soon as a player or NPC makes the mistake of entering the foul waters, a Marsh Wraith will appear and target them until they leave or are slain.
You can spawn them with a spawn egg in creative mode, but they disappear a few seconds after you spawn them.
You can only kill these monsters with a special modifier called Wraithbane, but other weapons don't damage them, as they are basically ghosts. Marsh wraiths will shoot projectiles at you endlessly until you are out of range or dead. The projectiles will do damage and apply a slowness effect upon you. They can also be seen in the water being inactive when you look in. In this state, they will constantly disappear and reappear in new locations within the pool until you leave or look away.
- Because these mobs use projectiles to attack you, wearing a full suit of Galvorn Armour will protect you from their attacks.
- Even though they're invincible to most weapons, these mobs will back away from you if you approach them. This suggests that they use the same AI as all the other ranged units in the mod.
