Just over the top of the hill they came on the patch of fir-wood. Leaving the road they went into the deep resin-scented darkness of the trees, and gathered dead sticks and cones to make a fire. Soon they had a merry crackle of flame at the foot of a large fir-tree (...)

A Fir Tree is a type of softwood tree that was added in the Public Beta 23 update.

Spawning Edit

Fir trees can spawn in the same places that pines appear. All of these places are listed below.

Andrast, Angmar, Blackroot Vale, Blue Mountains, Coldfells, Dale, Dunland, Erebor, Eryn Vorn, Ettenmoors, Gladden Fields, Grey Mountains, Iron Hills, Mirkwood Corrupted, Mirkwood Mountains, Northern Forest, Northern Mirkwood, Northlands, Misty Mountains, Old Forest, Púkel, Red Mountains, Rivendell Hills, Trollshaws, Vales of Anduin, White Mountains, Wilderland, Woodland Realm

AppearenceEdit

Fir Trees somewhat resemble spruce trees, but are more closely related to Pines. Their leaves and bark are more lightly colored than those of the spruce. The wooden planks obtained by breaking down the logs are a lot lighter in colour as well. The tree resembles an older forest-grown spruce in real life, with all of it's branches growing in the upper half of the tree. Their normal height is about 15 meters (50 ft).

UsesEdit

FirWood

Fir Plank, Fence, Gate, Slab, Log, Leaves, Stairs, and Beam

Cutting down a Fir Tree will yield fir logs, which can be crafted into planks, which can be used to make fir planks, stairs, slabs, and fences. The wood is good to use for solid dwarven construction. The leaves can be broken by hand and have a chance of dropping Fir Saplings, and can also be broken with shears, dropping both the leaves, and a chance of saplings.
