|“||If you want to know what cram is, I can only say that I don’t know the recipe; but it is biscuitish, keeps good indefinitely, is supposed to be sustaining, and is certainly not entertaining, being in fact very uninteresting except as a chewing exercise. It was made by the Lake-men for long journeys.||”|
Cram is a food made by the Men of Dale, mentioned in The Hobbit and The Lord of Rings. It is a sort of equivalent to Lembas as it was used by Dale-men for long journeys; however, unlike Lembas it was bland and flavourless.
The Dale-men had strong trade relations with the Dwarves of Durin's folk, and therefore Cram can be found naturally spawning in Dwarven structures, such as a Dwarven house. Merchants and bakers sell it as well.
