[...] In its right hand was a blade like a stabbing tongue of fire; in its left it held a whip of many thongs.

‘Ai! ai!’ wailed Legolas. ‘A Balrog! A Balrog is come!’

The Fellowship of the Ring, The Bridge of Khazad-dûm

A Balrog Whip is a weapon used by Balrogs. They are dreadful flame whips, burning anything in their path.

The Balrog Whip has 1000 durability, which is quite low for such a rare weapon. Use it wisely.

You can only acquire it in the fire level of the pits of Utumno, by killing a Balrog carrying the whip. The Balrogs will only drop the whip on rare occasions, making it one of the rarest items found in-game.

Usage in CombatEdit

The whip can be used to hit and ignite the ground in the direction you are looking at by holding the right mouse button. All flammable blocks in this direction are instantly set on fire, but this will only light entities if the area is banner protected. Leaves and other non-solid blocks cannot be directly lit by the whip. The range depends on your vertical sight angle and reaches up to 15 blocks and either 1-12 blocks can be set on fire depending on your vertical sight angle.

You can also use the whip as a normal weapon. This will, besides damaging the target, have the same effect as right-clicking. The whip gives +7 attack damage.

This whip can be very powerful in PvP; not only can you severely damage your target, but you can set your enemy's hired units alight, making this weapon very good at destroying multiple foes. This can be repeatedly swung by holding right click.

    • considering how their name means "demon of might", I think they should live up to that name. Perhaps the current iteration of balr...
    • Also.. Mithril is ''supposed'' to be rarer than diamonds. That's part of the reason diamonds were removed from Middle Earth.
