Apples are common, useful and natural food items. They can be found across most of Middle-earth growing on trees and stored in structures.
In this mod, there are two varieties of apples: red apples, which are a vanilla feature, and green apples, which are added by the mod. In most ways, they are identical, although red apples can be used to make horses grow up, while green ones won't work. The colour of apples also matters when doing a mini-quest, although it's indicated in the quest icon, to avoid any confusion.
Apples can be obtained by breaking the leaves of apple trees, which spawn in most biomes across north-western Middle-earth; in this mod, they do not fall from oak leaves. Red and green apples drop from apple leaves with equal probability. On average, one apple tree might drop between 2 and 5 apples.
Both types of apple restore 4 () hunger points when eaten. Apples can also notably be used to brew cider, juicify them and make apple crumble. They can be sold to some traders, such as the Near Harad drink trader.
Apples are frequent elements in Hobbit mini-quests.
Note: When giving quests for obtaining apples, Hobbits (and other NPCs) don't say which color of apple they want, but it actually matters which color you give them. Look into a Red Book to see the item icon; this will reveal which type they want you to bring them.
